In July/August 2004 I took Khayamanzi from her home on the Ashby Canal down the Oxford Canal, onto the River Thames and ending up on the River Wey Navigation before returning home. Here are a selection of pictures from the trip.
(Top left working down each column)
1) Successful completion of the Inland Waterways Helmsmans Certificate at Willow Wren training school.
2) One of the many lift bridges found on the Oxford Canal.
3) Passing by the Anchor Pub on the River Wey Navigation.
4) An early morning scene from the side hatch on the River Wey.
5) Passing up the HIgh Street at Banbury with shoppers looking on.
6) Father and son on a camping trip hitching a lift at Newark Lock on the River Wey.
7) A cautionary sign to the travelled boater who might temporarily be entering reality!
8) Passing under the shadow of Windsor Castle on the River Thames.
9) Passing through the popular Millmead Lock on the River Wey.
10) Evening mist ater a heavy downpour on the River Wey.
11) One of the many interesting locks and bridges to negotiate on the Oxford Canal.
12) The often 'un-narrowboat' friendly environment of the River Thames.
13) My engine shortly after the fire has been extinguished.
14) The battery isolator switch fitted by the boat builders and clearly not capably of carrying a 2.5KW inverter!
15) Some of the offending wires which were routed across the exhaust pipe - an accident waiting to happen!
