A little about me!

Well here I am - Andrew Edwards, (or Andy: I'm not bothered!) I guess this is the page that will get the least hits but that's fine with me - the obligatory 'about me' page!

I was born on 8th April 19** in Surrey near to Kingston Upon Thames, (England). After the boring years at school where I vowed never to return, (...keep reading....) I left and attended agricultural college for 2 years. The first to study a general certificate in agriculture and the second to gain an advanced certificate in agricultural engineering. From the age of 14 I had worked on a local farm and this was set to be my career. Click the link below the menu on the left to visit the website of Farmer James who I used to work with and who now owns a farm park in Esholt, (better known as Emmerdale!) Yorkshire.

After a change of tack, having spent about 10 years helping develop a local youth group to a club with about 200 7-11 yr olds on the books, I decided to become a teacher and so attended Roehamption Institute of Education for a 4 year BA, (QTS) course at which time I was working for Disney which included the chance to work on the set of the filming of the live action 101 dalmations movie. I completed my course and started teaching at Cheam Common Junior School in Worcester Park.

After 6 years at that school, (a school where I did my final teaching practice,) I had co-ordinated PE, co-ordinated ICT, built the school website, won a national 'Plato' teaching award, introduced a campus wide wireless network, become a DfES 'Teaching advocate' and was Head of Year 6 on the Senior Management team. Having had my first family narrowboat holiday in 1979 and then for many years after that, my family were already enthusuasts. After yet another narrowboat holiday in 2000 with some South African friends, I then decided to re-live my past holidays by developing a passion to get my own narrowboat - only achievable on a teachers salary by also living on it. As from September 2003, I took on the role of a class teacher at Weddington Primary School near Nuneaton in Warwickshire and realised the dream. At that school, I managed ICT, taught in a Year 6 class, (10/11 yr olds,) and served on the Senior Management Team as a Senior Teacher. From September 2004, I took up the position as Deputy Head at Bilton C of E Junior School near Rugby. This is a large, well regarded 3 form entry school. I am also involved in co-writing a series of children's books which give the account of great people in the past whose faith influenced their lives and has had an affect on areas of life and society today. A link to the publishers can be found in the links page 3.

Oh! and I spent 6 years or so spending all my free time and evenings/weekends as a mobile DJ around London with my mate Nick. During this time Nick and I developed a huge collection of lighting, sound and special effects equipment only parting company when I moved away by which time the disco had grown too successful for us to continue part time!

So there we are - now you know me!
